GEOS Corporation is currently looking for enthusiastic Native English Teachers with a Bachelors degree. If you are interested in teaching a wide range of ages in private and group lessons, we could be what you are looking for.
The chance to teach the same students week to week means that you can monitor their development and make their experience with English an exciting one, which motivates them and gives them the comfort and freedom to express themselves in English. Our teachers are encouraged to socialize and spend time with their students, and to this end, schools often plan parties, picnics, get-togethers, and other events to make the whole experience more enjoyable for all involved.
Because we wish to provide a stable learning environment for our students, we require a minimum one-year commitment from all new teachers. All teachers are provided with a one-year renewable contract and sponsored work visa.
Qualifications….
All applicants must be able to demonstrate native-equivalent English ability. Only applicants who have completed their entire education in English (from elementary school through university) will be considered.
Teaching experience or the formal study of Education is not necessary, although Trinity/Cambridge Certification/CELTA is an asset. Successful applicants will be outgoing, dynamic and flexible - no amount of formal education or classroom experience is a must of those attributes!
Training….
All successful applicants receive a minimum two-day initial training along with three days of supervised teaching/training in your school. In the first year of employment, teachers also receive additional trainings covering everything from the basics to advanced teaching theory and techniques.
Working Hours….
GEOS teachers work 29.5 hours per week. All native English teachers work five days a week, with two consecutive days off.
Monthly Salary….
The monthly salary starts at 250,000 yen. GEOS also covers travel expenditure and provides a housing allowance for high-cost areas should you choose to live in a GEOS provided apartment. Teachers are also eligible for performance based bonuses each month. GEOS teachers pay an average of 10% income and residential tax.
Health Insurance….
GEOS provides health and accident insurance which covers basic medical care while employed by GEOS in Japan. You do not need to pay any premiums or deductibles - these are covered by GEOS. Dental, vision, maternity and pre-existing conditions are not covered. GEOS encourages all its employees to join the Japanese National Health Insurance plan as well.
Housing and Commuting….
GEOS provides a basic, single occupancy, furnished apartment with private bath and kitchenette. Rent, utilities and utilities deposits are the teacher’s responsibility. All apartment deposits and “key money” are paid for by GEOS.
Travel to and from Japan….
Employees are responsible for their own airfare to and from Japan.
Paid Holidays….
10 days of selected paid holidays and all Japanese national holidays are available in the first contract year. Additional holidays are available in subsequent years of employment.
End of contract bonus….
Upon successfully completing at least one year of employment with GEOS, teachers are eligible to receive a one-time bonus. Should you decide to continue with GEOS after your first year, the bonus will continue to increase throughout your employment.
TESOL….
TESOL certification is available through GEOS for interested teachers.
Career Opportunities….
Sub Teaching, Native Trainer, International Recruitment and Publishing positions exist within the company should you prove to have what it takes to be successful with the Global GEOS Corporation.
