Free copy of English Teaching Professional

Unfortunately not the edition I missed since my subscription ran out, but rather September 2008. Still, free is free, and it’s a good magazine. Would also give you a taste of the online edition, if you’re thinking of indulging. Alternatively, might be able to get a reviewer a freebie subscription…

Graduate School Application Counselor

Ivy League Consulting offers full support to Japanese applying to graduate programs (MA, MBA, etc.) in the US, UK, and other English speaking countries.

We are currently seeking part time graduate school application counselors. The position involves helping our clients with the graduate school application process: choosing appropriate schools, preparing application essays and recommendations, training for application interviews, etc.

Full training for new counselors is provided and no specific experience with this type of work is expected or required, but we are seeking people who meet the following general requirements:

1) A graduate or post-graduate degree (MA, MS, MBA, etc.) (current graduate students are also welcome to apply).
2) Friendly, outgoing and able to establish a good relationship with clients
3) Able to work some weekday evenings and/or Sat morning/afternoons each week (at least 3 days total is ideal, for example 2 evenings and a Sat afternoon, 4-5 hours each time)
4) Professional, totally dependable and keep commitments

Successful candidates will be able to work as little as 8 hours/wk and as many as 15 or 20, depending on availability and qualifications. Most of the work is on weekday evenings or on weekend mornings and afternoons (because our clients are mostly working people with regular day jobs).

The job is an excellent opportunity for a conscientious person with strong educational background to earn extra money on evenings and weekends or to try something very different from ordinary English teaching.

If you meet the above qualifications, we welcome your application and look forward to meeting in person!
