Opening Reception on 2009-09-28 from 18:30 to 20:00

This is the 26th installment of the Second Stage at GG series of exhibitions. Last year marked the 30th edition of the Hitotsubo exhibition started in 1992 to support the activities of young creators, and this year saw the launch of the 1_Wall exhibition, featuring the work of over 566 creators in various fields each of whom have previously won prizes at the Hitotsubo exhibition.

Showcased at this 26th edition is the work of Hiroki Yamamoto, an rising talent in the Japanese graphic design scene. Yamamoto won in the graphic art category at the 17th Hitotsubo event in 2001 while still a student at Tama Art University. After graduation, he worked in the design department of a manufacturing company, after which he launched his own firm Marvin, handling advertising, editorial and product design. His bold yet delicate designs display a strong and consistent identity freed from fixed notions associated with graphic design, attracting much attention from critics and consumers.

The theme for this exhibition is “Shibuya Art School”. Yamamoto transports viewers to a different world using a single poster, reconfiguring the space of the school premises using photography.

Talk show: October 9th (Fri) 19:00-20:30
Yasuhiro Sawada (art director) and Hiroki Yamamoto
