Central Japan Railway Co. President Masayuki Matsumoto said Thursday the company plans to begin construction in 2014 or 2015 on the Chuo Shinkansen, a maglev train line between Tokyo and Nagoya it plans to have up and running by 2025.
It is the first time that JR Tokai has indicated a start date for work on the high-speed line. The company plans to hasten negotiations with local governments along the line regarding matters such as route selection and the selection of intermediate stations. (Yomiuri)
