The U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) is seeking an individual to provide representation in Japan and maintain strong customer relations with the largest soy importers, processors, trade associations and government officials and other services including but not limited to those listed below under “Scope of Services”.
USSEC anticipates the need for one full time individual in its Tokyo, Japan office organization’s Country Representative Contractor.
I. Specifications
A. Scope of Services Needed
The scope of services needed by USSEC consists of the primary function of Industry Relations. Industry Relations entails maintaining strong commercial links with the largest soy processing and importing firms and their respective trade associations and the organization and implementation of programs that meet those commercial needs to sustain and expand sales and market share of US soy.
These Industry Relations trade servicing programs and activities include:
1. Organization and management of conferences and round table meetings to address issues of common concern and interests.
2. Organization of trade teams to Japan and the United States to educate Japanese importers and processors on the advantages of the US soy complex and reinforce the long term commitment of US soybean producers to the Japanese market.
3. Track market access issues that may impede the flow of US soy into the Japanese market and organize coalitions of stakeholders to address those market access issues as they arise.
Additional responsibilities include:
1. Maintain a service office presence in Japan. The serviced office will provide USSEC with an address, dedicated telephone and fax line for the Japanese soy industry to connect with the US soy industry at any time. The costs of this office will be included in the Contractor’s remuneration. The location and complete package of services provided by the office will be determined by USSEC. THE COSTS OF THE SERVICED OFFICE SHOULD NOT BE ADDED TO THE OFFEROR’S PROPOSAL.
2. Establishing, leading and maintaining a cohesive team of independent contractors that will implement USSEC’s programs and activities in the area of Human and Animal Utilization in Japan
3. Monitoring and assessing the independent contractors’ activity implementation and reporting Target Area Directors in USSEC headquarters and the East Asia Regional Industry Relations Director on the effectiveness of those programs to meet those program objectives.
4. Tracking and reporting progress toward achieving USSEC’s Industry Relations Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
5. Working collaboratively with the Industry Relations Target Area Director developing annual work plans and Industry Relations budgets for the Japan market.
6. Propose, initiate and implement creative Industry Relations activities that will achieve USSEC program objectives in Japan
