Writing and reading

As it says in the article, The Big List of CPD in ELT that I linked a couple of posts ago was inspired by reading the (excellent but somehow difficult to imagine anyone buying) book The Developing Teacher. I originally started reading it to write a review, which is a great way of making you read more books and concentrate more on them than you otherwise would. Writing your own ideas on the topic you are reading about and then supplementing them with the best of what you learn doubles that effect. Here are a couple of my recent results of that process:

Physically active reading activities

Discussion questions for use with images

The problem with the practice of that great idea of reading and writing above is that in neither of those cases have I yet got around to writing the review! Here are three that I have:

Teaching Second Language Listening review

Super Simple Songs review (with links to all the best songs online)

online ELT Journal review

Cast coming off in two to four weeks, then proper blog posts to follow, I promise! Whole series on “Why we really do what we do” has been brewing in my head for a while. In the meantime, guest posts even more welcome than usual.
